I know I know, I featured Titus Jones at the start of last week with his mashup, Lick Yr Daughter, but it was more so the PanosT music video edit that got the feature (okay, it was both Titus Jones and PanosT). But now he’s out with a brand new one called, Closer to Kissing Fun Girls; which, without any further details, already sounds like one heck of a song! This features three samples: Tegan and Sara’s Closer, Katy Perry’s I Kissed A Girl, and fun.’s Some Nights. I love the use of Tegan and Sara on this mashup, it reminds me of when I saw them in concert a few months ago! Plus, if you’re not getting how epic the mash is with I Kissed A Girl, then you must not know much about Tegan and Sara – the lesbian twins. Yeah. That’s why Titus Jones earned the extra feature so close to his last one. I see what you did there, and I liked it!
Also, DJ MADA (it’s Adam backwards – cool eh?) has a new remix out there. In fact, he flaunts that not only does he have an eleven year-old student, but he threw this together while teaching his student an example of how remixes, edits and original productions are made. MADA, how did you get such a young student and what do I have to do to get you to teach me to DJ like you!? Looks like I missed my shot when I lived in Denver to have you as a mentor (granted, I’m not 11, far from it actually). If you get a chance to see DJ MADA live, do so. I saw him DJ for Na Palm and enjoyed it so much I sought him out on SoundCloud.
FrankCarmine makes music that girls dance to, I don’t think it can get much simpler than that! The Night Alive is only a day old and already getting a lot of attention. It includes samples from Hardwell, Dirty South, Krewella, Usher, Martin Solveig, and Rita Ora. Do listen to the whole song, but I have to say, my favorite section comes in right around 3 minutes. That EDM beat is what I enjoy the most! The whole thing is great though, a skillful execution without a doubt!
I’m putting this article under the Brand New category because of his latest mashup, but just in case you are new to FrankCarmine, I wanted to include a couple other favorites of ours. It would appear that as long as you have Zedd’s Spectrum and just about anything from Adele, you have mashup gold! Set Fire to Starships is a great concept, if you take that literally – Nicki Minaj on “American Idol” is just awful. But as a cameo on this mashup, not so bad (which also has Katy Perry).
Viva La Language is the other mega mashup I feel obligated to share with you. I mean, come on, how can you not with a single mashup that includes all of these samples: Porter Robinson, Nicki Romero, Coldplay, Pink, Chris Brown, Katy Perry, and Deadmau5. What a great mix! Check out FrankCarmine’s SoundCloud account for more great mashups… there just isn’t enough time or space to provide them in this one article!
I figured it was about time that we change up the feel of Throwback Friday. Now don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the Rebirth of a Mashup artist just as much as the next guy. But when I was on my Wobble Wednesday hunt, I found an excellent Dubstep producer that I knew I had to share. Xilent (of AudioPorn Records) was born in Warsaw, Poland and currently resides in the UK; in 2011, he was nominated for the “Best Newcomer Producer” by the Drum and Bass Arena Awards. I really enjoy the remixes he has available on his SoundCloud account. First off, there is his remix of Ellie Goulding’s Figure 8. It has a fantastic build up with some sick beats and of course, it has the drop. A few drops at that. This is an official remix for Ellie Goulding by the way – or at least it is now, as it is featured on her SoundCloud account.
Another remix that you need to hear is about 6 months old, he took on Katy Perry’s Wide Awake. Another Dubstep remix with a good build, and based on what we’ve come to know about Xilent so far is that we know the bass is coming. That excitement increases with anticipation the longer you wait and all of a sudden the bass hits. It’s one of those that you can sit back, take in and just enjoy.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls he’s back to catch them all in this mix-mashed world of ours. We featured Mash Ketchum a few months back on a whim from an email that we received from him. He let us know about a track he was working on, and we couldn’t be happier with the production quality this kid was producing. This 4 track EP gives you a taste of how he’s progressing in his talents, where he is headed, and I just have to say this kid is really starting to shine here in the mashup industry. We are proud to bring you Midnight Mashups by Mash Ketchum!

This is the Titus Jones mashup I have been waiting for! I discovered this Nashville this Nashville resident a few months ago when I heard his mega mashup, Bad Things Will Roll With The Devil, which takes on elements from over 10 different samples to an impressive level of mastery. But, I wanted to wait to feature a mashup that was brand new. Now, I have that opportunity and even better is that there is a music video produced by PANOS T attached to this one! It is my opinion that Panos T is the best mashup video producer out there. Titus Jones samples from 10 songs on Dance Alarm: Nicki Minaj, Avicii, Owl City & Carly Rae Jepsen, Britney Spears, Eminem, Lady Gaga, Taio Cruz, Cascada, Etta James, and Dev. Even more exciting than this mashup is that this is the lead single from his upcoming mash album “After Shock,” which will be coming out on Friday, September 21, 2012!
